VILLA PARK, Calif. — Older residents who no longer drive or find conventional transportation difficult can ask the city about a door-to-door taxi program. Villa Park’s official Senior Mobility Program is intended for eligible residents age 60 and older and is described as operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays.
Is everyone over 60 automatically eligible?
No. The city says participants must apply and be approved before using the program. Approved riders receive a Senior Mobility identification number that authorizes the service. The city’s program guidelines also limit the type and distance of eligible trips. A 24-hour operating schedule does not guarantee unlimited rides or immediate availability of a taxi.
What should applicants verify?
Residents should ask about current costs, advance booking requirements, destination limits, trip caps and accessibility needs. These rules matter when arranging recurring medical appointments or visits to businesses outside Villa Park. Do not assume that a trip qualifies simply because a destination is in Orange County.
How to start
The city offers a program application on its official website and at Villa Park City Hall, 17855 Santiago Boulevard. Questions can be directed to 714-998-1500. Applicants may need to provide information confirming age, residency and other eligibility criteria.
The program is not an emergency response or ambulance service. For a medical or public-safety emergency, call 911.
